The project combines ideas of a classic English garden with rather formal modern elements. The gently sloping terrain is broadly terraced by dry-stone walls. A combination of straight and rolling paths give additional structure. Main paths are paved with decomposed granite while secondary paths are marked just by mowing them into the high-growing meadows of wild flowers. A circular path gives access to the peripheral areas of the garden. A central axis connects the direct vicinity of the house with a quiet bench at the highest point of the garden, which offers a nice view of the whole ensemble.
Hedges, shrubs and trees define a clear spatial structure of the garden. While hornbeam and red-leafed barberry form the hedges in the lower part near the house, yews in the form of pruned hedges give a quiet background to colourful and lush plantings of perennials and shrubs in the upper part.
