Preliminary project for a residential area on the edge of the Ticino Park, based on the principles of environmental, social and economic sustainability. Ten design objectives have been defined and then translated into multiple and complementary intervention strategies. Most of them relate to materials and spaces, others to uses and management models to be put into practice on a daily basis. The type of planting, always autochthonous, and the open space design strategy encourage the enrichment of biodiversity in the area.

Buildings, designed to create a healthy internal living environment, will be constructed with high performance materials with low production and transport impacts. Such materials will be as free as possible from fossil energy resources and will also be used in the context of reducing construction site waste. The aim of reducing the energy requirements of buildings and infrastructure is achieved through high levels of insulation, optimal orientation and local production of energy from renewable sources. The water management system is designed with the aim of saving water and reducing pollutants.

Some open and enclosed built spaces are designed to be for shared community use. Shared heating technology, IT connections, and the provision of spaces and technology for shared electric cars reduce the costs of operating and managing such equipment.
The location of these residences is in close proximity to public transport lines, and delivery of products is always possible via a shared collection space, accessible to couriers.

Two public services have been designed for the community. A public vegetable garden with an orchard of old local varieties, which will be used by pensioners, and a nature-oriented playground, which will be used by children from the surrounding neighbourhood.
